Newcastle based corporate finance boutique, WilliamsAli, has announced its latest charity of the year, Nerve Tumours UK.
Originally established in 1982, Nerve Tumours UK has evolved to become the leading voice for the 26,500 people in the UK living with NF, the group name for a set of neuro-genetic conditions: Neurofibromatosis Type 1 (NF1), NF2-related-Scwannomatosis (NF2), and Schwannomatosis (SWN), that cause tumours to grow on nerve endings, and which can have a multitude of associated conditions and complications.
Through its work the charity provides crucial medical and non-medical support through a variety of ways such as regional patient days, online communities, a network of healthcare professionals and a national nerve tumours helpline.
The cause is one that is close to those at WilliamsAli as Associate Director, Mo Miah’s one year old daughter, has recently been diagnosed with the condition.
Of the announcement Abu Ali, Managing Director at the firm said, “At WilliamsAli we pride ourselves on our family values so when Mo suggested Nerve Tumours UK as our next charity of the year, there was no decision to be made. Mo is a big part of our team and we will do everything we can to support him and his family.”
Mo added “I am over the moon with this decision. The diagnosis for our daughter has impacted greatly on our family and we have already been supported by the charity so it feels right to be giving back”
To kickstart their fundraising efforts the team at WilliamsAli are holding a Ryder cup style golf day which is due to take place on 14th September. This will then be followed by a variety of challenges throughout the year.
Karen Cockburn, Charity Director, Nerve Tumours UK said “We are absolutely delighted that WilliamsAli has chosen us to be their charity of the year. Raising awareness of this little-known illness is a large part of our work and it’s great to see WilliamsAli helping us with this. We are excited to see what challenges their team can come up with to raise vital funds for us.
